Faith Lutheran

A lot of planning goes into a successful church sound and video system. Faith Lutheran Church is an example of how to make the most of your resources.

The sound system has multiple control locations and even doubles as a Social Hall sound system. It also uses technology to simplify the sound system operation.

Bose Modeler software was used to improve the room acoustics and to predict the sound system performance. The software, exclusive to Bose, allowed us to show the customer where the worst room reflections were. They located the organ pipes in that spot, greatly reducing the room reverberation.

The room was designed to use the sheetrock walls on either side of the stained glass windows as projection video screens. A special paint was applied to make the video images clear and bright.

Two video projectors were mounted, hanging from the ceiling, and relatively close to the wall (screen). This allowed the use of projectors with relatively modest output. That translates into lower cost without sacrificing performance.

Two Bose 402 speakers were positioned for the best sound coverage in the room. This was determined using Bose Modeler software. Bose Model 32s were used for areas out of the main coverage pattern.

A Bose MB-4 subwoofer was used, making this system full range (music and voice).

The result was a sound and video system that easily blends into the ceiling.

BOSE has a new product called ControlSpace. It is a tremendously flexible digital processor. It can also route inputs and outputs and turn any part of the system on or off. This allows us to program almost any combination of functions that can be used as presets. The customer was almost as excited about the possibilities as we were.
ControlSpace is a digital processor with PRESETS. It can be configured to provide single button solutions for almost all of your needs.
Presets can be made for:
• Summer services with no choir and pre-recorded music
• Weddings
• Choir practice
• Services where attendance is low (some speakers turned off)
• Services where overflow areas are used (speakers turned on)
• Controlling recordings
• Turning on your 32 channel mixer for the service with the full band!

In almost every sound system...

Steel locking equipment rack
...we design and install there is an entry on the itemized proposal that says "Locking Steel Equipment Rack". This equipment rack provides a single place to house most of the system electronics. It also provides security, RF protection and a secure place to wire the components. With the advent of low cost-high tech audio components, it also serves to prevent tampering with the system settings. This is increasingly important as many of these settings are derived by use of specialized equipment.
"All well and good" you say, "but...
"...what does the equipment in this rack do?"

That's a good question. We put in a lot of thought as to how you will use your sound system. Our goal is to provide all the features you will need while keeping the system within your budget. From the top to the bottom:

1. Shure Antenna combiner for the wireless mics. This allows us to use only 1 antenna and locate it where the reception is the best.

2. Shure SLX wireless mics. Shure is the industry standard and offers the best performance for the price of any wireless system.
3. Furman power sequencer. Automatically turns the system components on or off in the correct order. No thumps or pops!
4. 4 channel preamp for additional capacity
8. Ethernet hub for Control Space communication between control locations.
9. Control Space ESP-88 Processor. The "brains" of the Control Space system.
10. The second Furman power sequencer turns the system components on or off for the Fellowship Hall sound system.
11. Paso power amplifier for Fellowship Hall.
12. Peavey 4 channel Sanctuary Series Automixer. Automatic mic on/off and level control.
